Dog Bed

I am madly in love with our french bulldog named Abby. I didn't even want a dog - I didn't want or need something else to take care of, but Mike pushed hard for a puppy and I folded without much argument. Before long I fell for her personality and all her little quirks.

All that being said - she is driving me NUTS lately. We just moved into a new house in July, and now that the weather is cold, we have noticed that the house is just a tiny bit drafty. Mike likes the house cold, and I don't mind layering up. Abby on the other hand prefers being so warm that she needs to pant. At night the house is colder, because we turn the thermostat down (are you bored yet?). So, she will jump on the side of the bed every few hours shivering, and wanting in the bed. I cave when my alarm goes off, and I let her sleep on my side until it's time for her to eat breakfast.

Saturdays are pretty much the only day of the whole week that I get to sleep in. So, when Abby jumped on the bed at 3AM, my brain started coming up with solutions. I think i found one, and spent this afternoon making it happen. Mike very nicely (or not so nicely) pointed out that my blog title has the word "homemaker" which implies more than just recipes - so here is the solution I came up with!

I bought two pillows, and then hit a fabric store for fleece. I used the "tie blanket" method and created this bed. I even left one side open so that she could get under it like she gets under the covers. Abby freaking LOVES it, and so far today I've had the couch all to myself!

Seriously, when did I become the person who obsesses over a dog??

Great job on the bed! We have had multiple beds over the years and this now includes the new throw my mom got me for my birthday. It is sitting on the floor in lump because Jordan likes to cuddle up in it. She also loves the thick sheepskin rug I have at my feet- cozy! I have no clue how all this happens, but I suspect it starts when they look at you with those loving/trusting eyes. Just like a human baby, you will do anything for them. I love both my girls! There is no shame in that. -Jennie
