House Projects and 101 in 1,001 Update
House projects are in full swing around here - instead of spring cleaning we have been doing house improvements! It’s addicting seeing the house change. I didn’t think I would like it this much, but it’s been really fun!
First up - our main floor bathroom. It’s this dark purple color. I’m not the biggest fan because it makes an already small bathroom look smaller. I didn’t want to paint the whole bathroom, and I didn’t want to wallpaper because both options would have required too much effort. There are a few too many things to work around - door, mirror, window, toilet, sink, etc. So I opted for a stencil. I found one on Etsy - and I wanted to use two different colors. White and the Teal color from our shower curtain hooks.
…And for the grand finale - our kitchen!! Here’s the before shot… that was all the counter top space I had.
Here’s the after shot. We swung it out three and a half feet from the wall which gives me what feels like DOUBLE the counter space.
Things left to-do in the kitchen:
1. Paint - I’m going to let a professional handle it, because well, I don’t feel like it.
2. Back splash
3. Swap out the pot rack - we have a beautiful one we got as a wedding gift, but I want to wait until the walls have been re-painted to hang it.

Hi, my name is
Yay for more kitchen space! I also love the tiny frame you put around the thermostat and I might just do that myself. Thanks!
looking good! i love the stenciling in the bathroom!
Whoa, the stenciling is gorgeous! I have the same kind of thermostat, and it’s on my living room wall looking all sorts of ugly. I’m going to borrow your idea and frame it. Whee!
Hey, on the pot rack: are you going to hang it over the sink? My husband put ours there when we first got married (you were probably still in grade school). It’s wonderful, because it doesn’t take up wall space where I could put other cute stuff, and if I’m feeling super lazy I can just hang the still-wet pots and let them drip dry in the sink.

We actually aren’t hanging it above the sink - but that is a genius idea!! We have one already up on another wall in the kitchen (next to the stove) which is where we will put the new one!
