Coffee Date

There are times when I write a post, and end up deleting every word and starting over. Other times, it’s plain and simple and posted before I know it. Since this blog started as a food blog, I feel the pressure to write about nothing but food. Sometimes, that’s just not enough for me. So, let’s try something new, shall we? Let’s pretend we are meeting for coffee to catch up like old friends.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you … We have finalized our honeymoon plans! I have to admit, I turned into a cliche girl about it, and I kept changing my mind about where we should go. Mike and I have so much fun on new adventures and in foreign places and we also have a long list of places we want to see. We are going to spend a weekend in Paris, and then about a week in Italy. I can hardly wait!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that … If I pull out my laptop and sit at the kitchen table to get things done, the dog demands her own chair. Abby jumps up onto the chair next to me and gives me sad puppy eyes until I move the chair next to me. She then curls up and falls asleep. I have no idea why this started, but I’m positive it’s the most adorable thing ever.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that … I currently cannot get enough of the show New Girl. Everyone talks about it, and I never understood why. I watched the first couple of episodes on TV and I wasn’t hooked. But, when I was looking for something new, I decided to give it another try on Netflix. The following two days passed rather quickly.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you … I had my first gluten free baking experience, and I have to say that I was impressed with the outcome. I made banana bread muffins with chocolate chips and pecans. I’ve been eating one at breakfast smothered in almond butter.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that … It seems like everywhere I turn people are asking my parents or my in laws or Mike and I if we are pregnant. Right after we got married, I remember hating the question ‘how’s married life?’ and I swear, now I miss it.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you … I made tomato sauce from scratch for my girl Brit and I the other night, and we were shocked by how good it was. It’s so simple and yet so flavorful.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

Like the whole ‘If we were having coffee’ approach.
Also, where’s the recipe for the GF banana muffins?
    I NEED it! :D

Aw, this is an awesome post Mackenzie. I feel the same when I write my own blog posts… sometimes I just think I should start another blog for random thoughts and musings that aren’t necessarily food-related.

Okay… *ordering my coffee, skinny flat white with no sugar* firstly, yay for finalizing your honeymoon plans! Woop woop! When will you be going? Aaron and I are planning to visit Europe mid-next year, it’d be awesome if you were there too (or add Australia into your list… it’s not that far away, is it? Just think… endless sour cream and chilli chips!). Oh, and gf baking still scares me. I’ve mostly had successes but I still worry that things won’t rise. Every. Time.

For me, I spent most of this week on the couch, sick. Looking terrible and spending lots of time in the bathroom, ick. In some ways, it was great as I got to sleep in and spend more time with Aaron (he does his design work from home) but it was still frustrating as I felt so unproductive. I’m feeling a little better now, so it was back to work today. I soon wished I was back on the couch… argh, I need to find a new job.

As for TV shows, I’ve never watched New Girl. Perhaps I should, as you’re right – it’s so popular at the moment, most probably for a good reason! I do like Zooey Deschanel. At the moment Az and I are watching The Walking Dead. We’re up to series two… we both share a love for everything zombie-related so it’s perfect for our late night TV snuggles together. Sometimes it’s nice to discover a series late as you have heaps to catch up on. Two series to go and they’re making series five! Woop!

Oh, and the pregnancy thing… yep, we get it too. Sigh. I think once you get into the second year of married life people think you’ve had enough alone time, haha. We definitely want kids but don’t feel the least bit prepared at present. Then again… is there ever a time when you feel ‘ready’? Or just ‘less not ready’? I often wonder that.

Happy Thanksgiving for the weekend lovely. Hope that you enjoy every moment! We should do coffee again soon xx
