Crock Pot Applesauce
I had a really nasty flare up about two weeks ago. I think it was the ice cream that I had on our anniversary. I broke out in hives, itched to the point of scabs and couldn’t stop clearing my throat or snoring for days. Oh dairy, why must you hurt me so? My diet has been on lock down ever since. No dairy, and as little gluten as possible. I feel like a million dollars, but it is so hard. I could cry thinking about cheese, pizza and cream sauces.
I’m thinking that going forward I will be cheating on dairy and gluten one day a week, planning in cheats will prevent me from going too far off the rails. (I hope). It’s time to stop ignoring my food allergies, I’m an adult and feeling like crap is just no longer acceptable. The strangest thing I’ve noticed is that I’m less nauseous. I tend to get car sick easily, and sick to my stomach if I just smell something I don’t like, no dairy? no problem! Very odd. You’re not here to listen to my problems. My apologies.
Let’s talk about applesauce, shall we? I usually make applesauce on the stove top, because it how my momma always did it. This past week, I just didn’t want to stand and watch it, so I figured I’d bust out the crock pot. Four ingredients and five hours gives you a whole lot of delicious applesauce people. It turned out to be even less work than making it on the stove top. Just try it people!
Did I mention that you could totally put all the ingredients into the crock pot and then go to work? Yes, it is seriously fine all day. No need to add water or anything else. The apples will sweat and get all moist on their own. Delish!
