Iced Coffee at Home

I was never big on coffee until about a year ago, despite working at a coffee shop as a teenager. The older I get the more I love it, the ritual of it, the smell, the way a warm mug of coffee feels in my hands on a freezing cold Minnesota day. I’m not sure how it came to be, but I’ve started to prefer iced coffee over hot, let’s blame it on the weather finally deciding to warm up, shall we?

After the 21 day sugar detox, I have been unable to drink my usual amount of caffiene full coffee, it was keeping my up at night! It’s like I need to ween myself back onto coffee and alcohol now. ANNOYING. Don’t worry, I’m up for the challenge. ;) This means that paying coffee shop prices is pretty close to unbearable. Soo, I figured out how to make it at home with my favorite blend.

You feel like you’ve accomplished something when you pour your own cold press in the morning, I will say that much. Add a swirl of caramel, and you’ve got your own macchiato. Good mornings are in your future!

Pour 5 cups of water into an airtight container, stir in 1 and 1/4 cup of your favorite coffee grounds. Seal it up, and place in the fridge overnight.

In the morning, place a big bowl in the sink, top it with a strainer and line the strainer with a paper towel. SLOWLY pour the coffee ground mixture into the paper towel. Once completely drained, pour the contents of your bowl into an airtight container. I used a weck jar. Store in the fridge, it’s good for a looooooong time.

When you’re ready to drink, pour it over ice and add your favorite creamer. My current favorite creamer is full fat coconut milk that’s been sweetened with dates, it’s really thick, but I just love it.
