Life has been moving really fast lately, and I’ve been swamped at both work and home with projects. Here are a few updates to tide you over until I can carve out some more time.

You know how people talk about their closest friend(s) and say “she’s my person” or “they are my people”. Well, okay maybe you don’t say these things, but I do. My girl Brit has always been one of my closest “people” but instead of calling her my person, I’ve always called her my sanity. She’s got this calm about her that you just don’t find in everyone. She moved out of state to be with her man, and I took a weekend and went out to visit her. Boston stole my heart with one bite of my first cannoli.

Oh and getting to meet Paul Wahlberg was just the yummy frosting on top of my trip, seriously Boston for the win, right?

This is going to sound strange, but when I travel I’m always looking around the airport and coming up with stories for people. It helps pass the time. You can usually find someone crying, clearly leaving a loved one, someone with a huge family and a lot of stress trying to keep everyone on track and so on. When I left Boston, I told myself I wasn’t going to cry. I made it through the goodbye hugs and walked up to security and all of a sudden, I lost it. I ugly cried my way through security, and when I was putting my shoes back on, Mike called and I proceeded to ugly cry all over my phone. It’s hard to be away from your people. More details on Boston coming soon, I promise.

I am now the proud owner of a VivoFit. This photo was my first entire screen of red lines and dashes, I call it the red line of shame. It works, I get up and move when it appears! Full review coming soon, I promise.

We went to Wisconsin with our neighbors to check out their new cabin and we stumbled upon a lake called Big Mckenzie. I couldn’t resist taking a picture with the sign. Please note - I wear this blue shirt too often and the sign is almost as short as I am. Also, if you are in Wisconsin please drink a spotted cow and a totally naked for me. Okgreatthanks.

I had one of those grateful moments recently. It’s funny how cognitively you know that you have a lot to be thankful for, but all of a sudden it will hit you like a ton of bricks. I don’t have a whole lot of family here in Minnesota, but we try to see each other monthly. Last month, the women went to the zoo with the kids, and when we met back up with the men, we had a 7 course feast that started with the biggest pile of mussels I’ve ever seen. As I sipped champagne and looked around the table I was grateful, painfully grateful. My family firmly believes that food is love, and we have a whole lot of love.

Oh and this plate? Best door prize ever. Thank you Peg!

I hear you on the pain of being away from so many of your loved ones/family. But it makes those times you do have with them extra special! So glad you got to spend time with them lately.

I love making up stories for people as well - lots of fun when you have time to kill!

    Thanks for the update.
Great to get caught up a bit.
And yes, trust me, you want to be grateful for every minute you have with those you love.
    Well done you.
